About Mawangdui Han Tombs

The site in eastern Changsha where the tombs of Li Cang, chancellor of the Changsha Kingdom and Marquis of Dai, his wife Xin Zhui and a son were excavated in 1972–74, yielding Xin Zhui's remarkably preserved body, silk paintings, lacquerware and silk manuscripts that include early versions of the Laozi and the Book of Changes. All the finds are in the Hunan Museum's Mawangdui galleries, about 3.5 km to the west, while at the site itself, in the grounds of the Mawangdui campus of Hunan Provincial People's Hospital, the pit of Tomb 3 has been kept under a protective hall.

How to get to Mawangdui Han Tombs
