Changsha 长沙Chángshā
Mawangdui's silk books, Yuelu Academy and fireworks from Liuyang

About Changsha
Hunan's capital spreads along the Xiang River around Orange Isle, a strip of parkland five kilometres long, with Yuelu Mountain and the Yuelu Academy, founded under the Northern Song, on the west bank. The Hunan Museum shows the finds from the Western Han tombs at Mawangdui: silk books, lacquerware and the well-preserved body of the noblewoman Xin Zhui. Liuyang, to the east, has made fireworks for centuries, and the city's evenings run late over stinky tofu and spicy crayfish.
