About Guanyin Hall, Changzhi

Guanyin Hall is a Ming-dynasty temple in the western suburbs of Changzhi, begun in 1582 and repaired in the Qing, with two courtyards leading through a gate hall and an offering pavilion to the main hall. The main hall is original Ming work under yellow and green glazed tiles, and more than 500 painted and gilded hanging sculptures cover its walls, roof frame, doors and windows, with Buddhist, Daoist and Confucian figures and Shakyamuni in the centre between Laozi and Confucius. The temple is also one of the real-world reference locations for the video game Black Myth: Wukong.
