About Laotieshan Lighthouse
A white iron lighthouse completed in 1893 by the Qing maritime customs service, standing on the Laotieshan headland at the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, where the Yellow Sea meets the Bohai Sea. It is still a working navigation light, and its French-made Fresnel lens turns on a mercury float. The station is run by the maritime authority, and the tower can be seen from the headland.
