About Dongping Lake
Shandong's second-largest freshwater lake, described as the surviving water of the 'eight hundred li' Liangshan marsh of the novel Water Margin and a key point on the eastern route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project. The county government gives a total area of 627 square kilometres, of which the permanent old lake is about 209 square kilometres. Lakeside tourism around Laohu includes boat trips, reed wetlands and fish-based local food, a large double-hulled sightseeing boat added in autumn 2026, and the Great Song Never-Night City, a Song-style district with costumed night shows.
