About Yucheng Postal Stop

The largest relay station on the Ming–Qing Grand Canal, founded in 1375 beside the canal at Gaoyou to keep post horses and boats and lodge officials; it burned in 1557, was rebuilt in 1568 and was repaired several times under the Qing. The restored complex includes the Huanghua Hall where officials were received, the Zhujie Hall with Ming beams and columns, and a three-storey drum tower, and it houses a museum of China's postal relay system. It is part of the Grand Canal World Heritage Site.
