About Jintian Uprising Site

The village of Jintian where Hong Xiuquan's God Worshippers declared their revolt on 11 January 1851, the start of the Taiping Rebellion. On Xiniu Ridge the ramparts of their rectangular camp, about 65 by 35 m, survive around the stone where the flag was raised, with the old drill ground and Xiniu Pool nearby, and outlying sites include the site of Wei Changhui's home and the Sanjie Temple front-line post. A modern museum beside the camp tells the story of the movement through themed halls and a 3D cinema.
