About Hongtong Locust Tree Ancestor-Worship Park

The park commemorates the Hongtong locust tree, remembered by families across northern and eastern China as the point of departure of the Ming-era resettlements from Shanxi, of which Ming records list 18 between 1373 and 1417. It is a modern park built around that memory, with a yearly ancestor-worship ceremony (the 36th, in April 2026, drew descendants from 18 provinces and cities), stage shows such as the Daming Qianminshu and a genealogy advice centre. The ancestor-worship customs are on China's national intangible heritage list.
