About Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall
A section of the Ming Great Wall at Xishuiyu in Jiuduhe town, where the wall runs down the hillsides into a reservoir so that parts of it lie under water, hence the name 'Lakeside' or 'Water' Great Wall. The walls guarded the Huanghuacheng garrison and its pass, built in the Yongle, Zhengde and Jiajing reigns; it is usually quieter than Mutianyu or Badaling, and a steep climb leads to watchtowers with views over the lake.
