About Wunü Mountain
Wunü Mountain is a flat-topped massif with steep cliffs above the Hun River, crowned by the ruins of a Goguryeo hill fortress that is generally identified as the first capital of the Goguryeo kingdom (founded in 37 BC). The fortress belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage listing for the Capital Cities and Tombs of the Ancient Koguryo Kingdom (2004), and the scenic area of about 10.8 square kilometres combines its stone walls, gates and building foundations with a slot gorge, lookouts over Huanlong Lake and the Wunü Mountain Museum. It was rated a 5A scenic area in 2024.
