Boats on an underground river, maple valleys and the first Goguryeo capital

About Benxi
Benxi is a steel and mining city in the forested mountains of eastern Liaoning and a base for the Benxi Water Caves, where boats carry visitors along a lit underground river. In autumn the maples of Guanmenshan and the other forest parks turn the valleys red. In Huanren county to the east, the cliff-ringed summit of Wunü Mountain holds a hill fortress generally identified as the first capital of the Goguryeo kingdom, part of a UNESCO World Heritage listing.
