About Two Mausoleums of the Southern Tang

The underground tombs of the first two rulers of the Southern Tang, a 10th-century kingdom based in Nanjing, at the southern foot of Zutang Hill: the Qinling of the founder Li Bian and the Shunling of his son Li Jing. Excavated from 1950, both are built of brick and stone in imitation of timber halls, with front, middle and rear chambers flanked by side rooms, and visitors can walk through them and see a small exhibition hall. The third and last ruler, the poet Li Yu, died in captivity in Luoyang and is not buried here.
