About Jinyuan Confucian Temple

The Confucian temple of the Ming county town of Taiyuan, founded in 1373 and the only national-level monument inside the restored walled town of Jinyuan. Its Ming core runs along one axis from a pailou gate and a rectangular pond with a stone bridge to the Dacheng Gate and the five-bay Dacheng Hall, with galleries and a shrine to local worthies at the sides. The town walls, 3,700 m round and 11 m high, were rebuilt and reopened in 2021, and the temple sits among restored shops, temples and houses.
