About Shuhe Old Town

Shuhe, about 4 km north-west of Dayan, is one of the earliest Naxi settlements around Lijiang and grew into a market town on the Tea Horse Road, known from the Ming dynasty for its leatherworkers. Part of the Old Town of Lijiang World Heritage Site, it has a market square, the Qinglong Bridge, the spring-fed Jiuding Dragon Pool and the Qing-dynasty Sansheng Palace, while the Ming murals of its Dajue Palace are protected as a national monument. Like Baisha, it is usually quieter than Dayan.
