About Yuanqi Temple

Yuanqi Temple is a small hilltop temple on Phoenix Hill, above the west bank of the Zhuozhang River near Xin'an village. Its main hall and a seven-storey octagonal brick pagoda, about 17 m high and dated 1087, are Song-dynasty work, while the other buildings are Ming and Qing. It belongs to a group of early timber temples in the Zhuozhang valley, which also includes Tiantai'an and Dayunyuan in neighbouring Pingshun County.
