About Lüshun Russo-Japanese Prison
Built by Russia from 1902 and enlarged by Japan from 1907, this former prison in Lüshun held mainly activists from Manchuria and Korea until 1945, and it opened as a museum in 1971. Inside a perimeter wall about 725 m long, visitors see the brick cell blocks, an interrogation room, an execution room and the former prison workshops. Two exhibition rooms cover the Korean independence activist An Jung-geun, who was held here in 1909–10 after killing the Japanese statesman Itō Hirobumi at Harbin station and was executed in March 1910.
