About Caishi Rock

Caishi Rock is the cliff-bound foot of Cuiluo Hill where it juts into the Yangtze on the south-western edge of Ma'anshan, counted first of the river's three famous rocks and long a strategic crossing, where Song forces led by Yu Yunwen defeated an invading Jin army in 1161. Legend says the poet Li Bai drowned here trying to embrace the moon's reflection, and the hill is dotted with memorials to him, among them the Qing-dynasty Taibai Tower, a national heritage site, a Li Bai memorial museum and his cenotaph. Other sights include Sanyuan Cave, the Lin Sanzhi art museum and viewpoints over the river.
