About Mong-Há Fort

Mong-Há Fort (Fortaleza de Mong-Há) crowns Mong-Há Hill, also called Lotus Hill, 60.7 metres high at the northern end of the Macau Peninsula. Begun in 1849 and finished in 1866 as a precaution against a Chinese attack, the walled fort covers about 650 square metres and had ten cannons able to reach the Border Gate. No longer in military use, the hill is now a municipal park of flowerbeds, grassy slopes and walkways, with good views over the north of the city.
