About Macau Museum

The city's history and folk-culture museum (Museu de Macau) opened in 1998 inside Mount Fortress, with two of its three floors built beneath the fortress platform and the top floor in the former weather observatory. The first floor covers Macau's early history and the meeting of Chinese and Portuguese cultures, the second its folk arts, festivals and daily life, and the third the city today and how writers and artists have portrayed it.
