About Tomb of Zhuge Liang

The tomb of Zhuge Liang, chancellor of the Shu Han kingdom in the Three Kingdoms period, who asked to be buried below Mount Dingjun after he died on campaign in 234. A walled precinct of Ming and Qing halls, with an opera stage, Ming-dynasty statues of Zhuge Liang flanked by Guan Xing and Zhang Bao, and dozens of inscribed boards and steles, leads to the mound, which is ringed by a white marble balustrade carved with 35 scenes from his life. Ancient cypresses surround it, and a temple fair is held at the Qingming festival.
