About August 1st Nanchang Uprising Memorial Hall
On 1 August 1927 the Chinese Communist Party launched the Nanchang Uprising, with its general headquarters in this building, the former Jiangxi Grand Hotel, a five-storey brick-and-timber block of 1923 with 96 rooms around a courtyard. The memorial hall, founded in 1956 and open since 1959, displays the events of the uprising, and the second-floor offices and bedrooms of Zhou Enlai and Lin Boqu are part of the building. The 1961 national heritage listing, 'Headquarters of the August 1 Uprising', also covers four other sites in the city, among them the headquarters of He Long and Ye Ting and Zhu De's former residence.
