About Haihun Marquisate Archaeological Park

Haihun was a Western Han marquisate whose first marquis, Liu He, had been king of Changyi and briefly emperor in 74 BC; the park protects its capital, Zijincheng, its cemeteries and his tomb garden, which a rescue excavation uncovered in 2011. In the tomb garden of about 46,000 sq m the main tomb and a chariot-and-horse pit are displayed under cover, along with the foundations of sacrificial halls, and the garden yielded more than 10,000 sets of gold, jade, bronze, lacquer and bamboo-slip finds. The Haihun Marquisate Museum on the same site shows the finds; the park opened in 2020 and the tomb garden itself to visitors in December 2023.
