About Pingyao Confucian Temple

A Confucian temple in the south-east corner of Pingyao Ancient City whose Dacheng Hall dates from 1163 under the Jin dynasty, with later Ming and Qing buildings around it. The Shaoshan Academy is attached, where the late-Qing scholar Xu Jiyu served as head for ten years. It suits visitors who want to see Jin-dynasty timber architecture inside the old town.
