About Qingxu Temple, Pingyao

A Taoist temple complex just inside the east gate of Pingyao's town wall, traditionally founded in 657 in the Tang dynasty and given its present name in 1064. The Dragon-and-Tiger Hall at the entrance is Yuan-dynasty, while the Hall of the Three Pure Ones and the other buildings are Ming and Qing. No Taoist priests live here now, and the buildings house Pingyao County Museum, whose collection includes Buddhist and Taoist carvings; the Hall of the Three Pure Ones keeps a Yuan-dynasty decree stele in Phags-pa script.
