About Mount Tianzhu
A granite mountain in Qianshan whose main summit, Tianzhu Peak (1,489 m), stands like a pillar above more than 50 lesser peaks; its old name, Wan Shan, gave Anhui its one-character abbreviation. Emperor Wu of Han honoured it as the 'Southern Peak' in 106 BC, and it is now part of a UNESCO Global Geopark. Cable cars and stepped trails lead to the summit area, the 450-metre boulder-cave passage of Shenmi Gu (Mysterious Valley) and the high mountain lake of Liandan Hu.
How to get to Mount Tianzhu
About 15 km by road north-west of Qianshan city, roughly 30 minutes by bus or taxi to the Chazhuang or Dalongwo visitor centres; a tourist shuttle runs to the mountain from Qianshan high-speed railway station, which opened in 2021, and buses also serve Tianzhushan station on the older Hefei–Jiujiang line.
