About Temple of Duke Zhou, Qufu

The temple honours the Duke of Zhou, brother of King Wu of Zhou, and served as the ancestral temple of the state of Lu at the heart of its ancient capital, in the north-east of present-day Qufu. A temple was set up on the site of Lu's ancestral temple in 1008 and repaired several times under the Yuan, Ming and Qing; statues of the Duke of Zhou and the Duke of Lu now stand in the Yuansheng Hall.
