About Youli City

The site north of Tangyin held by tradition to be Youli, where the last Shang king imprisoned Ji Chang, later King Wen of Zhou, who is said to have worked out the 64 hexagrams of the Book of Changes (Yijing) here. Excavation has found deposits from the Longshan culture to the Shang and Zhou, and the site keeps Ming buildings including the Yanyi archway, the ceremonial gate, the main gate and the second hall. It holds Yijing-themed festivals and ceremonies honouring King Wen.
