About Guoshang Cemetery

Guoshang Cemetery was completed in 1945 for soldiers of the Chinese Expeditionary Force's 20th Army Group who were killed retaking Tengchong from Japanese forces in 1944. On the small hill of Xiaotuanpo, 3,346 small headstones fan out around a memorial tower in sectors for each division, below a memorial shrine whose walls carry 9,618 names and a monument to Allied servicemen. The adjoining Western Yunnan Anti-Japanese War Museum, in a new building opened in 2013, covers the wider war in western Yunnan.
