About Italian Style Town (Marco Polo Square)

The former Italian concession, laid out from 1902: a district of about 28 hectares with 137 historic buildings designed by Italian architects, restored from 2002 and now given over to restaurants, shops and hotels. Its centre is Marco Polo Square, where a column topped by a peace figure stands among six Italian-style villas built between 1908 and 1916; the square and its buildings are a national heritage unit.
