About Ancient Culture Street (Guwenhua Jie)

Ancient Culture Street is a pedestrian street of Ming-and-Qing-style shop-houses on the west bank of the Hai River, opened in 1986 on the old streets that ran either side of the Tianhou Palace. It runs from Tongbei Road south to Shuige Street, and its shops sell antiques, old books and folk crafts such as Yangliuqing New Year prints and Clay Figure Zhang figurines. The Tianhou Palace and the Yuhuang Pavilion stand along it, which makes it a convenient first stop for a taste of old Tianjin.
