About Temple and Tomb of Bi Gan

A temple and tomb complex for Bi Gan, the Shang-dynasty prince who was executed for rebuking the last Shang king, Di Xin, and was later worshipped as a god of wealth. A temple was first founded here in 494, and the present screen wall, gates and sacrificial hall are Ming and Qing rebuilds on an axis that ends at the earthen burial mound, ringed by old cypresses. Among the steles is one whose four characters are traditionally attributed to Confucius, and a Bi Gan culture festival with temple fairs and lantern shows is held each spring.
