About Huishan Ancient Town

A cluster of ancestral halls and their gardens, 108 of them dating from the Tang dynasty to the Republican era, along two old streets at the eastern foot of Mount Hui, combined with neighbouring Xihui Park into one scenic area that also takes in Huishan Temple, Jichang Garden and the hilltop Longguang Pagoda. Halls honour figures such as Fan Zhongyan, Lu Zhi and Ni Zan, two carved stone dharani pillars of 876 and 1070 stand inside the temple's front gate, and the Second Spring under Heaven, ranked the second-best water for tea in the Tang dynasty, gave its name to Abing's erhu piece 'The Moon Reflected on Erquan'. Shops along the streets sell Huishan painted clay figurines.
