About Jichang Garden
A Ming-dynasty garden at the foot of Mount Hui, begun in the Zhengde era (1506–1521) by the official Qin Jin on the site of two monks' lodges and given its present name by his descendant Qin Yao after 1591. It is laid out around a long pond with Mount Hui and the Longguang Pagoda on Xishan 'borrowed' as a backdrop, and a rocky ravine, the Bayinjian, carries water from the Second Spring through an artificial hill. The Kangxi and Qianlong emperors each visited on their southern tours, and Qianlong had it copied as the Garden of Harmonious Interests in Beijing's Summer Palace.
