About Maoling

Maoling is the tomb of Emperor Wu of Han (157–87 BC), the largest of the Western Han imperial mausoleums, whose great flat-topped mound rises on the loess plateau between Xianyang and Xingping. The Maoling Museum lies about 1 km to its east in the grounds of the tomb of his general Huo Qubing, where galleries hold the Western Han stone sculptures from Huo's tomb, among them the 'Horse Trampling a Xiongnu', together with finds from the tombs around Maoling. A path climbs Huo Qubing's mound to a pavilion on its top.
