About Baling Bridge Scenic Area

A park on the western side of Xuchang marking the place where, in Three Kingdoms legend, Guan Yu took his leave of Cao Cao and lifted the parting gift of a robe on the tip of his blade. The original three-arched stone bridge was lost to water works; a modern bridge stands in the park, which also keeps a tablet put up by the late-Ming general Zuo Liangyu. The park's nationally listed Guan Yu Temple, a courtyard complex of halls and a pavilion founded in 1689 and rich in Ming and Qing steles, is unusual in honouring Guan Yu and Cao Cao together in its main hall.
