About Chunqiu Tower Scenic Area
A walled complex of Ming and Qing-style buildings in the centre of Xuchang's old city, built around the tower where, in Three Kingdoms lore, Guan Yu sat up at night reading the Spring and Autumn Annals while he was held by Cao Cao. The same scenic area takes in the nationally listed Confucian Temple, founded in the Tang and rebuilt several times since, with a screen wall, a semicircular pool and the Dacheng Hall, so that temples to Guan Yu and Confucius stand side by side. A live drama on Guan Yu's story is staged by day and a light show in the evening.
