About Mausoleum of the Yan Emperor
One of four places in China honoured as the tomb of the Yan Emperor (Shennong), the legendary ancestor credited with farming and herbal medicine, at Luyuanpo in Luyuan town, Yanling County, beside the Mi River. A temple was first built here in 967 under the Song; its halls burnt in 1954 and were razed in the Cultural Revolution, then rebuilt in 1986–88, and the complex now spreads over a sacrificial hall, the mausoleum hall, a memorial garden and a stele forest on the hill. The memorial rites held here are on China's national intangible heritage list.
