About Yiwu International Trade City

Described by the World Bank in 2005 as the world's largest wholesale market for small commodities, it is a chain of huge linked halls with more than 75,000 booths selling toys, jewellery, hardware, kitchenware, stationery, clothing accessories and much more, mainly to traders from around the world. It grew out of a street market legalised in 1982; its first district here opened in 2002, and District 2 houses a museum of the commodity trade's history. Even a quick look takes hours, and many visitors come simply to see the scale of global trade in everyday goods.
