About Former French Legation and Army Headquarters, Guangzhouwan

Two colonial buildings facing each other across Yan'an Road in Xiashan, the administrative centre of Guangzhouwan, the territory France occupied in 1898 and held under a lease from 1899 until 1945: the legation of 1903 and the army headquarters of 1905, known locally as the Green Building. After the Japanese occupation and the territory's return in 1945 they housed the new Zhanjiang city government and police, and the legation is now one of Zhanjiang Museum's three sites, with a permanent exhibition.
