About Hailongtun

The ruins of a mountain stronghold of the Yang family, the hereditary tusi (chiefs) of Bozhou, begun in 1257 under the Southern Song and destroyed when Ming forces took it in 1600. Cliffs guard it on every side, and stone gates such as the Feihu and Feilong passes and several kilometres of walls survive on Longyan mountain, enclosing about 1.6 sq km. It is one of the three Tusi Sites inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.
