About Zhongshan

Called Xiangshan until 1925, Zhongshan was renamed after Sun Yat-sen, first provisional president of the Republic of China, who was born in the village of Cuiheng, where his former residence and a memorial museum stand. Xiangshan emigrants also founded Shanghai's four great department stores, and returned emigrants built the arcaded shophouses of Sunwen West Road in the old centre of Shiqi. Other stops include Zhan Garden, the Chadong Chen Ancestral Halls and the rosewood furniture town of Dachong.
