About Zhuhai

Zhuhai borders Macau and counts more than a hundred islands in its waters, which have earned it the name 'City of a Hundred Islands'. Ferries from Xiangzhou run out to Dong'ao Island, Wailingding Island and Guishan Island, while on shore the Fisher Girl statue of 1982 looks over Xianglu Bay and New Yuanming Palace rebuilds scenes from Beijing's Old Summer Palace at full size. At Meixi, granite archways honour Chen Fang, a local man who became Hawaii's first Chinese millionaire.

  A small, mostly forested island in the middle of the Wanshan archipelago, south-east of Zhuhai, with one main settlement, Dong'ao village.

  An island in the Pearl River estuary between Zhuhai and Lantau, seat of Guishan town in the Wanshan archipelago, renamed in 1954 after the warship Guishan, whose crew made a beach landing here in the Wanshan Islands campaign of 1950.
• Imperial Hot Spring Resort 御温泉 4A scenic area · on the map
  A hot-spring resort opened in 1999 on former paddy fields at Nanmen village, Doumen, in western Zhuhai, where hot water had long welled up from the ground.

  A theme park at the foot of Shijing Mountain in Xiangzhou, Zhuhai, opened in 1997 with full-size reconstructions of scenes from Beijing's Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan), which was burnt in 1860.
