About Liuzhou

Liuzhou wraps around a loop of the Liu River among karst hills, an industrial city of car and machinery plants that is also home to luosifen, a pungent rice-noodle soup made with river-snail broth and sold in packets across China. The Tang writer Liu Zongyuan died here in 819 and is remembered at Liuhou Park. To the north, Dong villages in Sanjiang gather around drum towers and roofed bridges such as the one at Chengyang, and Rongshui is a Miao autonomous county.
