About Zaozhuang

Zaozhuang grew around a coal company with roots in 1878, but its best-known place is Taierzhuang Ancient Town, a Grand Canal town badly damaged in the 1938 battle and rebuilt between 2009 and 2013. In Tengzhou lie the ruined walls of Xue, an Eastern Zhou state later held as a fief by Lord Mengchang, and the Mozi Science and Technology Culture City, honouring the philosopher said to have been born here. Guanshi Pomegranate Garden and Weishan Lake Red Lotus Wetland add a gentler side.
