About Tumxuk
Tumxuk, the city of the 3rd Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (Bingtuan), was set up in 2002 in the western Tarim Basin east of Kashgar, on farmland watered by the Yarkand and Kashgar rivers. South of the city, Yong'an Lake mixes open water, reed beds and dunes in a wetland reserve for migrating birds. To the north, the walls of Tang Wangcheng (Toqquz Saray), a Tang garrison on the road between Kucha and Kashgar, climb a rocky hill.
