About Ming City Wall Relics Park

The longest surviving stretch of Beijing's Ming-dynasty inner city wall, about 1.5 km of rampart running east from Chongwenmen, ends at the Southeast Corner Tower, completed in 1439 and described as the largest and oldest city-wall corner tower surviving in China. The double-roofed tower, pierced by 144 arrow windows, was badly damaged in 1900 and dismantled and rebuilt in 1981–83; you can climb up to it and onto a section of the wall top, while lawns and trees line the foot of the wall as an open park.

How to get to Ming City Wall Relics Park

Along the south side of Beijing railway station between Chongwenmen and the Second Ring Road; the corner tower is about 10 minutes' walk from Beijing Railway Station on Metro Line 2, and Chongwenmen station (Lines 2 and 5) is at the park's west end.
