About Guangyun Temple

A Theravada Buddhist temple in Mengdong, the county town of Cangyuan, also known as Xuetang ('school') Temple. Its Qing-dynasty main hall combines an entrance pavilion, whose extra false eaves make it appear five-tiered, with a long hall under a triple-eaved roof and carved, painted beams. Ten murals inside show Jataka tales of the Buddha's previous lives and processions of the local chieftain.
