About Hong Kong City Hall
Opened in 1962 on Edinburgh Place, this Modernist complex was the first multi-purpose cultural centre for all citizens in Hong Kong, and it has a concert hall, a theatre, a public library and a marriage registry. A Memorial Garden between its two blocks has a 12-sided shrine to the soldiers and civilians who died defending Hong Kong in the Second World War. It was declared a monument in 2022.
