About Museum of the Imperial Palace of Manchukuo
The former residence of Puyi, the last Qing emperor, during his years as head of the Japanese-backed state of Manchukuo (1932–1945), now run as a museum. The main buildings are the Qinmin Building, where state ceremonies were held, the Jixi Building with the private rooms of Puyi and his family, and Tongde Hall, built in 1937–38 as a temporary palace that Puyi never moved into; a separate hall covers the occupation of north-east China. The national heritage unit also covers ten other former Manchukuo ministry and Kwantung Army buildings around the city, five of them on Xinmin Street, which are not part of the museum.
