The tomb of Zeng Guofan (1811–1872), the Qing statesman who raised the Xiang Army against the Taiping Rebellion, and his wife, on Fulong Hill in Pingtang, south-west Changsha, where he was reburied in 1873. The granite-faced mound with a three-metre stele, stone gate towers and pairs of stone horses, lions and officials was badly damaged in the Cultural Revolution and later looted, and was restored from 1998, the first phase finishing in 2002.
